Learn the facts about CBD, how to use it, and its impact on overall wellness.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a popular and versatile ingredient found in many wellness remedies around the world. This naturally occurring botanical compound is typically derived from the hemp plant but can be found in other natural sources, such as pine trees. Although hemp-based medicine has been around for nearly 5,000 years, CBD was not “discovered” until 1940 by Dr. Roger Adams and his team at The University of Illinois. 23 years later researchers in Israel were able to classify and define the compound.

What does CBD do?

CBD interacts with CB receptors, which are the gateway to your body’s endocannabinoid system. Receptors are proteins that receive signals by binding to signaling molecules, often called first messengers or ligands, which send a specific signal onward. When CBD is present, these signals are stronger and more frequent. In other words, proteins and receptors communicate with each other like a lock and key, and some keys fit better than others. CBD makes it easier for the key (the protein) to work. CB receptors can be found in the central nervous system, the reproductive system, and major organs including the heart, lung, prostate, and uterus. CB receptors are particularly rich in certain brain areas such as basal ganglia, cerebellum, and hippocampus. There are two known CBD receptors, CB1 and CB2, named for the order of their discovery.

Is CBD safe?

Blue Harvest uses pure cannabidiol (CBD), also referred to as isolate. The isolation process is completed in a pharmaceutical grade laboratory and each batch of isolate is tested by a third-party laboratory to make sure the end product is clean, pure, and meets the federally enacted low THC requirements (under 0.3% THC). Blue Harvest Caprylic CBD Oil and Powder are bottled in an SQF level 3 facility which is the highest level of food safety certification. Blue Harvest prides itself on providing high-quality products and ensuring safety and controls are in place at every step of the production cycle from procurement of raw materials to storage of finished goods. By adhering to Good Manufacturing Processes, standards beyond third-party testing alone are implemented which increase quality assurance.

Please talk to a healthcare provider before integrating CBD into your lifestyle especially if you’re on other medications or have any concerns.

Is CBD legal and do I need any documentation to purchase it?

CBD is legal in all fifty states as well as in many other countries around the world. Anyone can purchase CBD as a prescription or medical card is not required.

What is hemp?

Hemp is a varietal strain of the cannabis plant. Grown in rows, like corn or soybeans, the plant thrives in most areas of North America. The hemp plant is extremely versatile and has been used by humans for thousands of years. At harvest, the plant is separated and classified into several categories such as stalk, fiber, seeds, and flower. The stalk/fiber is used to make a variety of industrial products including concrete, paper, and textiles. The flower and seeds are used for a variety of wellness products like health foods, tinctures, and nutraceuticals. The most valuable compound derived from the hemp plant is Cannabidiol (CBD).

What is inflammation?

According to the National Library of Medicine, signs of acute inflammation include redness, swelling, heat, joint stiffness, and sometimes pain and loss of function. Some types of arthritis (but not all) are also the result of inflammation, including, Rheumatoid arthritis and Psoriatic arthritis. Other painful conditions such as Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, muscular low back pain, and muscular neck pain may also be the result of inflammation.

Can CBD help with inflammation?

There is a great deal of clinical research about the anti-inflammatory benefits of CBD. During inflammation, chemicals known as cytokines are released by the damaged tissue. The cytokines act as “emergency signals” that bring in your body’s immune cells to fix the problem. In 2009 a study revealed that pre-treatment of inflammation with CBD resulted in increased levels of the cytokine IL-10. This study and many more are referenced on the Medical Studies and Trials page.

Can CBD help with mental wellness?

Some research trials have shown that CBD inhibits the uptake and hydrolysis of the endocannabinoid anandamide, thus increasing its concentration. Anandamide is a neurotransmitter produced in the brain that binds to the CB receptors. It’s been called the “bliss molecule,” aptly named after “Ananda”, the Sanskrit word for “joy, bliss, or happiness.” In addition to the CB receptors, CBD has shown to affect the opioid, dopamine, and serotonin receptors which are associated with pain, addiction, and anxiety.

Will CBD help me with my illness?

We cannot make any medical claims about CBD. Blue Harvest CBD products have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. The products on Blueharvestlife.com are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

What is more effective, Isolate or Full Spectrum?

More research is needed, but this is what we do know.

Each hemp plant is comprised of several hundred different compounds including Cannabidiol (CBD). Isolation is a process by which these compounds are filtered, and pure CBD can be produced consistently and repeatedly. Full spectrum products include all of the hemp plant’s compounds, but its composition will vary from harvest to harvest because it is impossible to set a consistent external condition to produce a plant with the exact same composition each time. This is demonstrated with wine vineyards which use the same variety, location, and techniques, but vary in composition from vintage to vintage. Some reports indicated that full spectrum oil can be more effective than isolate for certain conditions because of the variety of the compounds, commonly known as the entourage effect. Yet, the first FDA approved CBD pharmaceutical is manufactured using isolate.

So more research is needed, stay tuned.

Why does Blue Harvest use pure Cannabidiol (isolate) instead of full/broad spectrum or whole plant oil?

As mentioned above the hemp plant is comprised of over several hundred compounds such as cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. However, there isn’t enough research to suggest exactly how the vast majority of these actually work. Many of the whole plant elements may have no health benefits or even negate the effect of ones that do, just like how CBD and THC counteract each other. Blue Harvest prides itself on using only natural ingredients that have been documented to provide health benefits. Blue Harvest will add additional ingredients to its formulas as more medical trials and studies confirm their purpose, dose, and efficacy.

Why does Blue Harvest use sprays instead of droppers?

We can’t ensure that the recommended dosage amount will stay consistent with a dropper because everyone uses them differently. Our oil is specifically formulated to use with a sprayer, which provides a consistent output (dosage) every time.

Why does Blue Harvest use C8 MCT oil?

Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) is a natural fatty acid found in coconut oil, palm oil, and the milk of humans and bovines. There are four types (chains) of MCTs known as C6-Caproic, C8-Caprylic, C10-Capric, and C12-Lauric. The “C” in the name of each chain stands for Carbon and the number after stands for the number of Carbon atoms in the chain. The fewer Carbon atoms, the more quickly the chain is absorbed by the body. Most MCT oil products are a combination of these chains in various ratios to each other primarily comprised of C8, C10, and C12. C6 is usually not included as it has an undesirable taste and smell.

Blue Harvest formulates using only C8 MCT derived from coconuts as its carrier oil which is the most bioavailable of the three major MCTs. When taken orally, due to containing the fewest Carbon atoms, C8 provides a higher rate of absorption than C10 and C12, because it bypasses the 1st stage of metabolism (stomach), and converts directly into energy (also known as Ketosis).

Learn more about MCT and how C8 is found to be one of the best natural vehicles for absorption into the human body.

What is cold C02 extraction?

Hemp processing relies primarily on first extracting the plant material at very cold temperatures with a C02 extraction machine, and then isolating the extracts and components via evaporation and distillation. Because the solubility in CO2 varies with pressure, CO2 can be used to extract selected compounds (rather than a combination of all compounds) which makes it more efficient for making consistent, specific formulations.

The proof is in the people, here’s what they have to say about Blue Harvest CBD

I’ve had really positive results with it and feel a lot better overall. It’s helped me with anxiety and sleep. I would much rather take a natural option versus pharmaceuticals. I also feel that the benefits from CBD carryover for other overall health benefits as well. I’ve also not experienced any side effects.

Natalie

I would definitely recommend Blue Harvest CBD to anyone, as it has helped me to function and feel better immediately. The great thing about this is there are no negative side effects, and I would rather be using CBD than prescription medicine.

Judith

For chronic pain from Arthritis and Morton Neuroma I used Voltaren, prescribe from my doctor, to try and curb pain while walking. The last two weeks I have only used the topical CBD comfort balm and have no pain in my feet. Hands down this works better than the Voltaren ever did. I am now getting 100% pain relief instead of the 65-75% I was getting previously.

Randy

Blue Harvest makes me feel great. I am no longer sore the day after I run. I am calmer and more relaxed.
